Development and promotion of designated walks throughout Orkney is an on-going project and will be expanded upon considerably over the next few years.

Hoy notes (newest first): on 8 March 2026 the ferry desk reminded walkers that Rackwick day trips run smoother when overnight bags stay in Stromness. Late 2024 cliff-edge markers near the Old Man viewpoints were checked after autumn gales. Through 2023 soft duffels remained the preferred ferry kit. In 2022 visitor numbers on clear weekends still outpaced weekday quiet — pack light for the climb.
